Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for an ICT Security Specialist in Canberra to work on Land projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
- Cyber Security Governance & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with system owners, capability managers, delivery managers, and project/product managers to support governance, risk, and compliance activities.
- Security Strategy Development & Implementation: Support and mature the LC4S security strategy by authoring security plans, procedures, and templates aligned with Defence and ASD guidelines, ensuring documentation remains current and effective.
- Guidance on Cyber Security Lifecycle: Provide expert advice to stakeholders on the Assessment & Authorisation (A&A;) lifecycle, sustainment and development processes, and Defence Cyber Terrain threats to maintain cyber worthiness.
- Risk & Documentation Review: Work with directors and managers to review existing security plans, identify gaps and weaknesses, assess cyber threats, and improve documentation for CSAA assessment and authorisation.
- Governance & Assurance Support: Contribute to PgMO governance by supporting reporting, audits, cyber assurance activities, incident presentations, and maintaining records in line with Defence requirements.
What You'll Bring
- Problem-Solving & Capability Delivery: Strong ability to solve complex problems, manage issues independently, and support delivery of technical, operational, and logistical requirements.
- Cyber Security & Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience with systems/software security, managing technical risk, networking, computers, and operating systems, supported by advanced technical writing skills.
- Collaboration & Communication: Highly effective communication skills with proven ability to work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders.
- Qualifications & Defence Standards Knowledge: Industry certifications in cyber security/governance (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ISO27001, CRISC), with knowledge of DSPF and ACSC ISM frameworks; Defence ICT security or CSAA framework experience highly desirable.
- Security Strategy & Assurance Outcomes: Expected to mature LC4S security strategy, author security documentation, conduct cyber assurance assessments, and maintain PgMO reporting and records to support Defence capability delivery.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
