The role
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Group Accountant to join a growing small business in a broad, hands-on role. This position suits someone who enjoys working across all areas of accounting, from daily transactions through to month end and management reporting. Reporting to the CFO, you'll take ownership of the finance function and deliver accurate, timely information to support the business.
Your responsibilities
Preparation of month end journals, reconciliations and management reports
Oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely processing and accuracy
Daily banking, cash flow monitoring and bank reconciliations
Payroll processing and related compliance requirements
Preparation of BAS, PAYG, FBT and other statutory obligations
Maintenance of fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Liaising with external accountants, auditors and tax advisors
Supporting process improvements and accounting system enhancements
Ad hoc analysis and projects as required
About you
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
CA/CPA qualified
3-7 years' experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within a small to medium business or accounting firm
Strong understanding of end-to-end accounting processes including AR, AP, Payroll, Banking and Tax
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or NetSuite
Hands-on approach with the ability to manage competing priorities
Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style
