Musk Café and Bar is a vibrant daytime dining destination where bold, flavour-driven brunch classics meet a playful hint of culinary whimsy. Known for our welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere and commitment to premium ingredients, Musk provides guests with an exceptional café experience focused on polished comforts and a touch of effortless cool. Our venue is a high-volume, energetic space that prides itself on sensational specialty coffee, handcrafted ceremonial matcha, and imaginative, beautifully presented cuisine. We are seeking a dedicated, full-time Head Chef to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will work closely with our culinary leadership to maintain the high standards of food preparation and presentation that our guests expect. This is an ongoing position based at Teneriffe.
Main Tasks
* Leading and mentoring a dedicated kitchen team in a fast-paced breakfast and lunch environment
* Designing and executing creative seasonal menus with subtle Asian influence and modern flair
* Delivering elevated breakfast and daytime dishes using refined cooking techniques and premium presentation standards
* Bringing fresh, balanced flavours and innovative ideas to a modern Australian menu with Asian-inspired elements
* Running smooth day-to-day kitchen operations including prep, service, ordering and stock control
* Maintaining exceptional consistency, food quality and presentation across all services
* Managing food costs, wastage and supplier relationships efficiently
* Overseeing food safety, hygiene and compliance standards at all times
* Working closely with ownership on menu development, concepts and venue growth
* Creating a calm, professional and high-performing kitchen culture
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience
* Minimum of a relevant Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma of Hospitality Management
* At least two years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge
* Experience as a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef or strong Café Chef in a quality high-volume venue
* Experience incorporating Asian ingredients, flavour profiles and techniques into modern café or brunch menus preferred
* Fine dining training or experience highly regarded, particularly in presentation, organisation and technique
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead from the front
* Excellent understanding of kitchen operations, food costing and service management
* Passion for creativity, consistency and premium hospitality experiences
* Ability to maintain high standards under pressure during busy breakfast and lunch services
* Trade qualified chef with relevant food safety certifications
* Food Safety Supervisor certification preferred or willingness to obtain
* High attention to detail, presentation and cleanliness
* Must be available for weekends and early morning starts
* Must thrive in a fast-paced, high-standard kitchen environment
* Must be committed to consistency, presentation and quality service
Annual salary will be between $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
