Executive Director - Education (Newcastle Anglican)

Korn Ferry is proud to partner with Newcastle Anglican to appoint an Executive Director – Education.

Newcastle Anglican is a significant faith-based, for-purpose organisation with a long and deeply embedded presence across the Hunter, Central Coast and broader New South Wales communities. Through its diverse ministries and services, Newcastle Anglican supports thousands of people across education, aged care, retirement living, social services, community housing and parish life.

Education is a core pillar of the organisation's mission, with Newcastle Anglican operating a network of schools and early learning services that emphasise holistic development, academic excellence and Christian formation. As the organisation continues to strengthen alignment across its services and build organisational maturity, there is a clear opportunity to evolve its Schools portfolio into a more unified, high‐performing and strategically aligned system.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and operating as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Director Education will provide enterprise‐level leadership across the Schools portfolio. This includes four Anglican schools and associated early learning services, with responsibility for driving educational excellence, strengthening system alignment, enhancing governance and supporting sustainable growth.

This is a highly visible executive leadership role, acting as the critical link between Principals, the Executive, and diocesan leadership, including the Bishop. The role requires strong educational credibility, strategic judgement and the ability to lead through influence, bringing together a group of established and autonomous school leaders into a more cohesive and aligned system.

This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced education leader to shape the next phase of Newcastle Anglican's Schools portfolio. The successful candidate will lead the transition from a more decentralised model to a consistent and integrated system, establishing common frameworks, strengthening performance accountability, and embedding a clear and shared approach to education across all schools.

Newcastle is the preferred location for this role, given the importance of strong on‐the‐ground leadership, visibility and connection with school communities and broader diocesan stakeholders. Flexible working arrangements will be considered, with an expectation of meaningful presence across the Schools portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

* Leading the strategic direction and performance of the schools portfolio, ensuring high standards of educational excellence and continuous improvement.
* Driving system alignment across schools, including consistency in structures, operating models, governance, and reporting frameworks.
* Partnering with Principals to strengthen leadership capability, accountability, and collaboration across the portfolio.
* Providing oversight of educational delivery, curriculum direction, and school performance within relevant regulatory frameworks.
* Ensuring robust child safety, safeguarding, and compliance frameworks, in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
* Supporting sustainable enrolment growth, financial stewardship and long‐term viability of the schools portfolio.
* Acting as a key interface between schools, the CEO, Executive and the Bishop, representing the schools portfolio internally and externally.

Ideal Candidate:

Newcastle Anglican is seeking an executive with a strong background in education leadership, ideally with experience as a Principal or in a senior system‐level role, and a demonstrated ability to lead across multiple schools or complex education environments. Candidates will bring proven capability in system leadership, stakeholder influence, governance and organisational alignment, along with sound judgement in areas of child protection and compliance.

An appreciation for, and alignment with, the values and ethos of Newcastle Anglican is essential. Experience within faith‐based education systems will be highly regarded.

Applications close at 11:59pm, on 17 June 2026.

Location: Newcastle, Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter NSW
