Wyndham Supermarket
Store Manager
Posted: 6 June
Offer description

As Store Manager of Wyndham Supermarket, you will be responsible for leading and managing our store operations. This full-time role is crucial in ensuring our store runs efficiently and delivers an excellent shopping experience for our customers. You will be a key member of our leadership team, working with the owners, driving sales, managing staff, and upholding our company's values and standards.

We are a small, busy supermarket located in the beautiful remote Kimberley region in the north of Western Australia, no two days will be the same. You will need to be adaptable and learn various roles in the business. You will need the skills and flexible attitude to cover a till shift, receive stock and load chillers, liaise with suppliers and freight companies to prepare for road closures and disruptions to deliveries during cyclone season, or even empty the bins (if staff availability necessitates this) – alongside strong management, admin, and organisational skills. Our close-knit team works hard to deliver great products and services to our customers. We are looking for a trustworthy, positive, hardworking person to join us in running our friendly workplace.

What you’ll be doing

* Oversee all daily store operations, including inventory management, staff scheduling, and customer service
* Rostering and determining correct staffing levels
* Develop and implement strategies to drive sales, improve profitability, and enhance the customer experience
* Lead, motivate, and work alongside a team, providing coaching and training
* Ensure the store is clean, well‑stocked, and maintains high standards of presentation, ticketing, and organisation
* Monitor and analyse store performance data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
* Manage stock ordering, receiving, stock rotation, waste control, and inventory accuracy across produce, grocery, and meat
* Monitor sales performance and margins, implementing local promotions to grow revenue and minimise shrinkage
* Cash reconciliation and preparation of financial reports
* Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies; develop and update procedures and policies to meet changing standards and legal requirements

What we’re looking for

* Minimum two years of experience in a retail management role, preferably in the grocery or food industry
* Prior experience in fresh produce and/or meat sales is highly regarded and will be considered essential for this role
* Excellent leadership and people management skills that nurture and drive team performance and engagement, with the ability to work both independently and within a small, diverse team
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Exceptional customer service orientation and the ability to create a positive shopping experience
* Stock management experience, with skills in planning, merchandising, and strong attention to detail
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, customers, and suppliers
* A proactive and hands‑on management styleEnergy, a can‑do attitude, and a positive mindset, as well as a love of working with people (team members, owners, and customers)
* Ability to deal calmly with and resolve issues that may arise from staff or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.)
* Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work in a changing retail environment
* An in‑depth knowledge of daily retail operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and adherence to Work Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations. Must have or be willing to obtain Food Safety Supervisor training.
* Physical fitness for lifting and standing
* Willingness to learn on the job and follow established policies and systems
* Confident with technology; experience with POS back office – Profit Track preferred
* Fork lift licence or willingness and ability to obtain will be highly regarded
* Availability to work full‑time 38 hours on an agreed roster across our span of trading hours, including some early and late shifts, and alternate weekends; some overtime may be required. We are open 7 days: 7am–6pm weekdays and 9am–2pm weekends
* Current police check and ability to obtain working with children check

Reporting directly to the store owners, you will have full accountability for the day‑to‑day operation of the store and overall store leadership in the store owners' absence.

If you're a supermarket retail professional with a flair for leadership, a love for delivering exceptional customer experiences, and the determination to make a real impact, we want you on our team!

What we can offer

* $36 per hour base rate, plus penalty rates for weekend work and overtime
* Affordable part‑furnished rental accommodation available within walking distance of the store (no commute!)
* Wyndham is a small, friendly town with amazing fishing and is the gateway to many spectacular Kimberley attractions
* Camping and outdoor activities during the dry season are a highlight; the wet season brings spectacular thunderstorms and beautiful waterholes for cooling off in. We have a fantastic recreational fishing jetty, and some of the best sunset views in Australia from the Five Rivers lookout.
* Wyndham has 2 schools a private Catholic primary, and Wyndham District High School Kindy – Year 12. A hospital, post office, daycare, service station, bottle shop, café, St John Ambulance & FESA volunteer fire station. There are lots of opportunities for community involvement. Football is a major part of town life through the dry season.
* We are remote – if bright lights and café culture are essentials, this is probably not the job for you! It's HOT here during the build‑up and wet season; work and accommodation are air‑conditioned, and you will need to be comfortable living in a monsoonal region.
