About Us

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria's newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne's north and west. We exist to walk alongside young people, their families, carers, supporters and kin delivering care that is accessible, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and grounded in lived experience. Our service model is shaped by the voices of young people and their communities, and underpinned by a commitment to safety, equity, and continuous learning.

At PYMHWS, we are working with our community and partners to build a future where all young people can access world-class mental health support, close to home. As we grow, we are looking for passionate, skilled, and visionary professionals to join us in shaping a new era of youth mental health in Victoria.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people aged 12-25 years old who are experiencing mental ill health.

This role is new to PYMHWS and will involve some hybrid work between the PYMHWS Continuing Care team (CCT) and the PYMHWS Youth Access Team (YAT). Young people will be provided with clinical care as part of a new integrated model involving both PYMHWS and headspace working jointly to provide triage and assessment.

The role is a Full Time Ongoing position based at PYMHWS Werribee site, which is a new clinic based on the Victoria University Werribee campus.

What You'll Do

As a Clinician, you will:

* Manage and undertake mental health and risk assessment, short-term treatment, crisis intervention, family work and systems containment, for the young people/families/carers/system.
* Complete mental health assessments including formulation, individual service plans, crisis management plans, outcome measures, documentation of young people's progress in client files, discharge summaries and contact sheets.
* Provide high-quality clinical care based on clinical experience working with young people with serious mental illness.
* Ensure the provision of services guided by evidence-based, culturally-safe and trauma-informed principles incorporating the diverse needs of all young people and families, including those from LGBTQI+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
* Consult and liaise with other mental health services and other service systems regarding the provision of acute psychiatric care.
About You

A passionate and skilled mental health professional with experience supporting young people with complex mental health difficulties. You bring a client-centred, evidence-based approach to care, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. You value inclusivity, cultural safety, and continuous learning, and you are committed to delivering responsive, high-quality mental health support. Your strong communication, clinical, and organisational skills enable you to build effective therapeutic relationships and navigate complex care systems with confidence and compassion.

* Eligible disciplines: Grade 3 RPN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker / Grade 2 Psychologist
* Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
* Minimum of 12-24 months' experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing mental health disorders
