We're looking for a Web Developer (Level 1) to join ACER's Software Development team and help design and build public‐facing websites and digital experiences that support education and research globally.
Reporting to the Lead Software Engineer, you'll contribute to the end-to-end design and delivery of websites—from layout and visual concepts through to front-end build, content implementation and ongoing enhancement.
This is a hybrid role, primarily remote with occasional on‐site attendance at our Camberwell office.
What you'll be doing
* Designing and building accessible, responsive websites
* Translating designs into high‐quality front‐end implementations
* Working with modern website builders and CMS platforms
* Supporting testing, documentation and continuous improvement
* Collaborating with developers, designers and internal stakeholders
What we're looking for
* Experience designing and building websites (or strong project work)
* Solid understanding of HTML, CSS and responsive web development
* Familiarity with AI‐assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
* Experience with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
* Experience with Webflow and CMS platforms (e.g. Expression Engine, Craft CMS, WordPress)
* Familiarity with UX, accessibility and SEO principles
* Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
