Position: Welder - First Class Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum Location: Deerpark VIC **** Our client is seeking a skilled welder to join their team in Deerpark, Victoria.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Reading and interpreting technical documents: Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements and processes.
Fabricating and repairing metal structures: Assemble and fit metal components and structures, such as frames, plates, and pipework, using techniques like welding, bolting, and riveting.
Setting up and operating equipment: Prepare metal surfaces, set up welding machines, and adjust controls for gas pressure, voltage, or amperage.
Performing complex welding: Execute precise welds manually or using machine controls, including preheating thick materials and guiding electrodes.
Quality control and inspection: Clean and smooth welds using filing, chiselling, or grinding, and inspect joints for defects to ensure they meet specifications.
Maintaining safety and cleanliness: Adhere to safety procedures, maintain a clean workspace, and ensure all equipment and materials are in good working order.
Required skills and qualifications Formal qualification: A qualification like an AQF Certificate III in Engineering—Fabrication Trade is required.
Minimum one (1) year full time experience is required Technical skills: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, operate various welding and cutting equipment, and perform precise welding techniques.
Problem-solving: Identify and report issues with equipment or materials and make necessary adjustments to achieve quality welds.
Attention to detail: A critical skill for ensuring the precision and integrity of welds.
