Sports Coaches (multiple roles, various sports)
Saint Stephens College is currently seeking Sports Coaches with high energy, good attitude and a strong knowledge and understanding of sport‐specific safety and training principles and programs. Our Coaches will have great organisational skills and will be able to engage students with sports in a motivating and inspiring way.
The diverse range of sports offered to our students caters to varied interests and ability levels. In junior year levels, there is increased emphasis on enjoyment, fair participation and skill development, and as students move into senior years results become an increasing part of shared team goals and successes. As a member of the Associated Private Schools (APS), a cluster of eight Gold Coast independent schools, the competition gives students the opportunity to compete in their choice of sport against other schools in the cluster.
* Season two, commencing June 2026
* Seeking coaches for: Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Softball (girls), and Water Polo.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Design, document, and conduct effective training programmes including individual sessions in a designated sport and attend games as the identified Coach of that particular team(s).
* Support all participants and engage with students in a motivating and encouraging manner.
* Supervise students and fulfil duty of care requirements, especially during any approved transportation and after training.
* Demonstrate correct exercise technique and provide explanations, ensuring the safety of all participants.
* Evaluate and monitor student participation in sport sessions (training and games), keeping appropriate records and maintaining transparent communication with the Director of Sports for any student concerns.
* Administer first aid if required and/or manage any incidents relating to your team as "first on scene" and complete all necessary documentation when required.
* Assist in sport field set‐up, ensuring that space, equipment and environment are safe and set up prior to student arrival.
* Assist in transporting sports equipment, packing/unpacking/cleaning equipment in the sport storage area.
* Role‐model friendliness, empathy, open‐mindedness, with high standards of personal and professional integrity, fairness and an unbiased approach.
What do I need for the role?
* Current CPR / First Aid required or willing to obtain prior to commencement
* Relevant coaching certification in the applicant's sport
* Blue Card, in accordance with 'No Card, No Link, No Start', as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
* Current First Aid qualification (or the ability to obtain first aid qualification)
