Cook – St Joseph's Preschool & Long Day Care Centre (Camperdown, NSW)
St Joseph's Preschool & Long Day Care Centre in Camperdown NSW is opening a current centre in January 2026 and seeks an experienced Cook to prepare healthy meals for children aged 0‑6.
This is a permanent part‑time position (30 hours per week, 6‑hour shifts). Above award salary in accordance with national awards.
About the role
As part of the team you will plan and prepare balanced meals while maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards. You will cater to special dietary requirements and create a welcoming environment for children, families and staff.
Key responsibilities
- Planning and preparing appealing, balanced, nutritious meals.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations in handling, storage and preparation.
- Catering for special dietary requirements and allergies.
About you
- Recognised training in food safety and nutrition.
- Experience catering for children aged 0‑6, including special dietary needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition and cost‑effective menu planning.
- Understanding of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and Department of Health Regulations.
- Ability to comply with food handling legislation, childcare regulations and centre policies.
- Understanding of the Food Standards Australia & New Zealand Code.
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Anaphylaxis Emergency Management Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently or as part of a team.
