Big Splash Media is expanding. We're building a modern media company that combines the craft of magazine storytelling with the speed, agility and creativity of digital publishing. Our channels span websites, newsletters, podcasts, magazines and video and we're looking for an experienced Commercial Director to drive revenue, partnerships and growth across all platforms.

What You'll Do
* Build and execute a commercial strategy that grows revenue across digital, print, audio and video.
* Lead advertising, partnerships, sponsorships and branded content across all channels.
* Develop innovative commercial products – newsletter sponsorships, podcast integrations, video partnerships, custom publishing, branded content campaigns.
* Oversee sales performance, pipeline management, CRM usage and agency/client relationships.
* Manage and mentor a small (but growing) commercial team across sales, partnerships, digital and branded content.
* Collaborate with editorial, digital, design and production teams to deliver commercially successful campaigns.
* Analyse audience insights, market trends and performance data to optimise revenue opportunities.
* Represent Big Splash Media at industry events, client presentations, panels and networking functions.
What You'll Bring
* 7–10+ years' commercial experience in media, publishing, custom content or digital partnerships.
* Proven track record in cross‐platform revenue generation (print + digital + podcast + video).
* Strong relationships with agencies, brands and direct clients.
* Ability to create new commercial products and take them to market.
* Leadership experience building, motivating and managing a commercial team.
* Highly analytical mindset with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
* Passion for storytelling, content and audience‐first brand building.

* Experience in custom publishing.
* Experience in events, podcast networks or video content monetisation.

* Existing relationships in Sydney's media agency landscape.

Key Deliverables in First 12 Months
* Build and implement a commercial strategy for all platforms.
* Launch at least one new revenue product (e.g., Club, podcast sponsorships, premium newsletters, video series partnerships).
* Secure a set number of major partnerships or multi‐platform deals (KPIs to be defined).
* Develop commercial rate cards, media kits and product offerings.
* Establish commercial processes, reporting and performance dashboards.
* Hire or restructure the commercial team as needed.
* Strengthen relationships with agencies and key direct clients.
