We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant – Special Needs for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Riverton Primary School (PS), an Independent Public School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are an inclusive community where students work collaboratively in a rich learning environment to achieve their academic, social, and emotional potential. We have a strong focus on English, Mathematics and Science to ensure students are supported and equipped for their future learning and experience. Other learning areas include Music, Japanese, Art, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Physical Education.
We work closely and inclusively with the Riverton Education Support Centre (ESC), sharing the campus and interchanging staff across the two official schools. All our students complete activities and share the facilities together.
The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will assist teachers with providing support for students with special needs. Under general supervision and guidance you will assist in the implementation of specialised education programs, support the delivery of planned education programmes, operate computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programmes or demonstrations.
Suitable applicants will ideally work under general supervision and autonomously, contributing advice and expertise and actively collaborating with colleagues to support student and whole‐school achievement. High expectations will be placed on suitable applicants who work in an environment characterised by whole‐school approaches, with a strong commitment to professional learning, teamwork and acceptance of leadership roles and responsibilities. Applicants should also be committed to putting students first and assisting teachers to implement instructional skills and strategies that maximise students' engagement in their learning.

o Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programmes, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programmes.
o Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
o Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well‐being of students.
