About Us
The MERIT Team is a multidisciplinary group of Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers and Administration staff. MERIT provides counselling and case management to clients identified with drug or alcohol dependency and involved with the criminal justice system.
About The Role
The role is to provide culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal clients who access the MERIT program, working with staff to deliver a safe and culturally responsive service. You will support clients with identified drug‐use dependence and criminal justice involvement throughout the 12‐week MERIT program, including court process support.
About You
You will have a sound understanding of the barriers faced by Aboriginal clients accessing mainstream services, a positive and non‐judgemental attitude, and the professionalism to work within a diverse environment. Knowledge of local Aboriginal referral services is beneficial.
How You'll Be Supported
The position is supported by the Health Service Manager, MERIT colleagues, Administration Officer and the DACS Aboriginal Manager. Orientation, professional development and education sessions are provided throughout the year.
Requirements
* Minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a similar health qualification, with the aspiration and support to obtain Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) or another relevant health qualification.
* Eligibility to drive in NSW and ability to travel as required.
