We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior People & Culture Advisor to join our Shared Services team. Working closely with the CEO, Partners, and leaders across the firm, you will deliver practical, values‐aligned people solutions while contributing to the ongoing evolution of our People & Culture function. You will provide high‐quality generalist people support across the full employee lifecycle, shape a consistent and positive employee experience, and support BDO (NTH QLD)'s position as an employer of choice in the region. The role balances strong foundations in employee relations, compliance and people risk with a forward‐looking approach to workforce capability, systems, and ways of working.
You will contribute to people initiatives across talent acquisition, resourcing, learning and organisational development, performance and engagement, remuneration and benefits, diversity and inclusion, wellbeing and workplace health and safety, and people‐related projects, across process improvement and the responsible adoption of AI‐enabled people practices.
What you'll be doing
* Collaborate with leaders to translate business strategy into effective people initiatives
* Provide trusted advice and support performance management, industrial and employee relations matters
* Lead and continuously enhance end‐to‐end talent initiatives across attraction, recruitment, mobility, onboarding, performance, development, reward, retention, and offboarding
* Support and evolve remuneration, reward, recognition, and benefits programs including payroll compliance
* Drive employee engagement, wellbeing and experience using feedback and data insights
* Support, mentor, and develop team members
* Ensure people policies, procedures and practices comply with legislation and network standards
* Contribute to continuous improvement across people operations, systems, data governance and ways of working
* Manage the People & Culture budget and lead wellbeing, workplace health and safety, social and community initiatives

What you'll bring
* Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management or a related discipline
* Membership with the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI)
* Completion of, or progression toward, AHRI's HR Certification Program (desirable)
* Strong knowledge of employment legislation, award interpretation, governance and people risk
* Proven ability to balance day‐to‐day operational matters and longer‐term improvement work, managing self and others to deliver outcomes
* Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills and confidence to challenge assumptions and solve problems
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Confidence navigating systems, data and new ways of working, with curiosity about how AI and digital tools can improve people outcomes, balanced by a strong risk and governance mindset
* Technology proficiency, including advanced Microsoft 365 skills, and experience with HRIS platforms (ELMO, Workday and MYOB - desirable)
