Medical Officer – Australian Red Cross Lifeblood
We are inviting applications for a fixed‑term, part‑time Medical Officer position with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
Position details
* Duration: until December 2026
* Hours: 22.8 hours per week (fixed‑term Part‑time)
* Compensation: Starting at $215 000 plus super, salary packaging and benefits
* Location: State‑wide; work can be carried out from home, a donor centre, or the Lifeblood office
Role Overview
This role combines office, donor centre and home‑based work. The successful candidate will provide medical guidance to optimise safety for donors, recipients and blood components, in partnership with Lifeblood medical specialists. Tasks include attending the office and donor centres each week, operating a rostered telephone advisory line, and contributing to research that supports medical policy development. Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekend shifts, are required after an initial training period.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver expert clinical guidance that supports donor and recipient safety.
* Attend office and donor centre locations regularly on a weekly basis.
* Provide telephone advisory support on a rostered basis.
* Engage in research activities to support medical policy development.
* Collaborate with medical specialists, nurses, administrative staff, scientists and other technical staff.
Qualifications and Experience
* Medical degree.
* At least 2 years of clinical experience.
* Current full registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Proven ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams.
* Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* High competence in information technology, including MS Office, and proficiency with Blood Service databases, telephony applications and the Blood Service intranet.
