Remuneration: $158,080 to $165,606 pa (inclusive of $133,579–$139,939 salary, 17% superannuation, and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

About the role
The Principal Engineer, Operations is a member of the Corporate Systems team that maintains and improves a complex landscape of business-critical solutions. The role provides operational support, implements QUT's digital transformation strategy, and coordinates key activities and projects supporting Finance and Human Resources Systems. It requires technical leadership and collaboration with team members, vendor partners, clients, and other IT professionals.
Responsibilities
Lead technical delivery on project teams or operational environments, guiding colleagues, sharing expertise, and influencing outcomes through collaboration and initiative.
Translate strategic initiatives and business needs into efficient system-management practices and effective operational outcomes.
Maintain and improve corporate systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
Collaborate with partners to identify client requirements, design solutions, and deploy and implement solutions using appropriate technologies.
Be contactable and may work outside standard business hours occasionally, as permitted by the Enterprise Agreement for Professional Staff.
What You Need To Succeed
Postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology and extensive experience in system administration or equivalent.
Demonstrated technical expertise in implementing, managing, configuring, and monitoring corporate systems.
Experience providing technical leadership within project teams or operational environments.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to resolve complex problems.
Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills; clear communication of technical issues to diverse audiences.
Strong organisational skills, including time-management, prioritisation, and the ability to work under pressure.
