Overview Fixed Term (12 months) Consultant Clinical Oncologist - Breast.
Based at the Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with sessions across University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The closing date is 30 September 2025.The post is an appointment that may be offered as a fixed-term arrangement if the permanent post cannot be filled (initially 6 months with a view to a further 6 months).
The Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service covers five hospital locations across Sussex and provides clinical and medical oncology care to the population of Sussex.The appointee will work alongside a multi-professional team, including clinical oncologists, medical oncologists, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists and cancer support workers, and will participate in on-call duties at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on a >1:9 rota (currently 1:17).
Main duties of the job The appointee will join a team of approximately 30 Clinical/Medical Consultant Oncologists delivering a comprehensive oncology service for patients across Sussex (Worthing, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Hastings).
Key duties include regular outpatient clinics, MDM attendance, SACT prescribing and oversight, radiotherapy planning, supervision of non-medical staff, clinical governance, service developments, ward reviews and on-call duties.
The appointee is also expected to contribute to education for trainees at all grades and to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
