Research Assistant – BUBs Quit Study

Remuneration: Professional Level 5 $88K-$100K pro rata based on experience + 17% Super + Annual Leave Loading
Position Summary
The Research Assistant will support the BUBs Quit study within the Population and Child Health (PCH) group, focusing on smoking cessation during pregnancy. Working across several hospitals and AMIHS in Sydney and New South Wales, the role involves participant recruitment, obtaining consent, and follow-up of mothers in the study.
The position contributes to both quantitative and qualitative research activities, including data collection, data entry, data management, and analysis using tools such as REDCap and electronic medical records. The Research Assistant will assist with recruitment, interviews, and focus groups, while maintaining research databases and records in accordance with high scientific, ethical, and professional standards.
Responsibilities
* Assist with participant recruitment, obtaining consent, and follow-up of mothers in the BUBs Quit study.
* Collect and manage quantitative and qualitative data using REDCap and electronic medical records.
* Conduct interviews and focus groups with participants.
* Perform data entry and maintain research databases.
* Support data analysis and reporting using statistical software.
* Ensure research processes meet ethical and professional standards.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualification in health, psychology, behavioral science, or related discipline; or equivalent competence.
* Experience or knowledge of qualitative research methods.
* Experience in data collection, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
* Familiarity with REDCap and REGIS.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
* Strong time management, organisational and analytical problem‐solving skills.
* High level of professionalism, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer skills, including MS Office suite and spreadsheets.
* Knowledge of basic data science database programs and statistical software (R, SPSS, SAS).
