About the Position

The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. The salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Who We Are

Bwgcolman Community School is a National Partnership Pre‐Prep‐12 school located on tropical Palm Island which is 65km north north‐west of Townsville in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. In ****, the school changed its name from Palm Island State School to better reflect the importance the community plays in their children's education. Our motto '2 Way Strong' also reflects the importance of our students being able to participate in the global community while remaining strong in Palm Island culture and maintaining their identity.

Responsibilities

* Maintain school ovals through regular mowing, watering and soil maintenance; lawn and garden maintenance, including regular weeding and the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers where necessary; plant, water and care for trees, shrubs and gardens; and undertake general maintenance of grounds care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters and tractors and arrange regular services.
* Ensure compliance with WHS requirements including maintenance of a safe work workplace and safe storage & handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuel.
* Assist with a range of duties that include coordinating the removal and/or disposal of rubbish as required (does not include emptying bins in agreed eating areas).
