Gogolanyngor Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (GAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate representing the Jabirr Jabirr/Ngumbarl people of the southwestern coastal region of the Dampier Peninsula. We are dedicated to protecting, advancing, and managing determined land and the interests of Traditional Owners by delivering economic, social, cultural, environmental, and community outcomes. GAC operates with a strong commitment to cultural integrity, community leadership, and sustainable land management.

Role

This is a pivotal leadership position that combines cultural heritage stewardship, ranger program support, and strategic land and sea management. The Healthy Country and Heritage Coordinator provides strategic and operational support for GAC's heritage, land and sea management programs, working closely with Traditional Owners, Elders, and the Bindan Djak Ranger team.

Healthy Country Program
* Provide leadership and support for GAC land, sea, and heritage programs
* Support implementation of the Healthy Country Plan through partnerships and strategic projects
* Support the Bindan Djak Ranger Coordinator in field operations, workforce development, grant writing, and work planning
* Monitor program performance and drive continuous improvement
Cultural Heritage Program
* Oversee integration of heritage management into land and sea programs
* Ensure compliance with Aboriginal heritage legislation and protocols
* Coordinate, participate in, and support Aboriginal heritage surveys and fieldwork
* Develop and contribute to heritage information systems, including record databases and GIS tools
* Engage with Aboriginal knowledge holders, Elders, consultants, and cultural leaders
* Support development of frameworks, guidelines, and protocols for heritage identification, protection, and management
Program Delivery & Operations
* Lead on‐country strategic programs including cultural heritage protection, biodiversity monitoring, fire management, tourism development, and joint management of parks and reserves
* Ensure effective coordination of field operations and logistics
* Monitor delivery against work plans and project objectives
Stakeholder & Partnership Management
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners, government agencies, funding bodies, research institutions, and partner organisations
* Represent GAC in external forums, meetings, and partnerships
* Support GAC advisory committees including the Healthy Country Advisory Committee (HCAC) and Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee (CHAC)
* Develop and manage program budgets in line with agreed annual targets
* Monitor expenditure and financial performance
* Identify and secure funding for related programs and fee‐for‐service opportunities
Key Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience in land and/or sea management, environmental management, or related fields
* Strong leadership and people management experience
* Experience working with Aboriginal communities, Traditional Owners, and culturally informed governance structures
* Strong program management, planning, and coordination skills
* Experience managing budgets, resources, and reporting requirements
* Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
* GIS and database experience
* Ability to operate effectively in remote and cross‐cultural environments
* Experience working within Aboriginal corporations or Indigenous ranger programs
* Knowledge of Aboriginal heritage legislation and land management frameworks
* Experience managing government‐funded programs
* Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, natural resource management, heritage, or related fields
* Knowledge of the Dampier Peninsula region and cultural landscape
Workplace Requirements

* Ability to work in remote and outdoor environments
* Capacity to travel and undertake on‐country work
