The Central Coast Local Health District is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join the Youth Access Team (YAT) at headspace Gosford, headspace Wyong and headspace Lake Haven in temporary or permanent positions.

We are offering a Permanent Full Time role and a Temporary Part time at 24 hours per week until 09th May 2027.

About The Opportunity

As a YAT Worker, you will play a key role in supporting young people aged 12–25 who may be experiencing mental health challenges, substance use concerns, or other vulnerabilities. Working within a fast-paced and collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and early intervention support to young people and their families.

Key responsibilities include conducting initial screening assessments, delivering brief interventions, and coordinating referrals to appropriate internal and external support services. You will work closely with clinicians and professionals across Child and Youth Mental Health (CYPMH), Adult Mental Health Services, GPs, and Allied Health teams to ensure young people receive timely and appropriate care.

As the first point of contact for young people accessing headspace services, you will be responsible for building rapport, facilitating engagement, and supporting a positive client experience. The role also includes maintaining accurate client records and data entry to support effective service delivery. Outreach activities may occasionally be required to meet the diverse needs of young people within the community.

Requirements
* Minimum tertiary bachelor degree in Community Welfare, Counselling, Social Work (where degree provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work), Occupational Therapy (plus general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia) (Health Professional L1-L2), or other qualifications deemed relevant by the employer; or tertiary degree psychology (4 year degree with 4th year honours in psychology) plus either provisional or full registration as a psychologist with AHPRA/Psychology Board of Australia (Psychologist Yr 1-Yr 9); or tertiary degree in nursing plus division 1 registration as a registered nurse with AHPRA (RN Y1-8). In addition welfare officers, counsellors, social workers, sexual assault workers and occupational therapists are required to have a minimum of 3 years clinical experience in community welfare/counselling/social work/occupational therapy in order to be classified as a level 2.
* You have experience working with young people (aged 12–25 years) and a demonstrated understanding and knowledge of their mental health needs.
* Demonstrated skills in engagement with young people and their families to work holistically with them around mental health issues.
* Willingness to travel to other locations within the district.
