Hospital in The Home provides exceptional hospital-level health care and ongoing support to residents of Northern Tasmania, enabling patients to remain in their own home and community under the care of a dedicated health team that includes medical specialists, senior medical registrars, nurse unit manager, associate nurse unit managers, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, allied health professionals and senior social workers, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.
Role
* Responsible for day-to-day management of private and public patients in accordance with roster and work unit requirements.
* Work under the direction and supervision of the medical specialist to provide medical treatment and care to patients admitted to HiTH, including day‐to‐day management and participation in patient reviews when clinically appropriate.
* Adhere to professional protocols, policies, clinical pathways and standards.
* Collaborate with a multi‐disciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive medical care plan.
* Demonstrate sound judgment and competence in patient care tasks.
* Provide after-hours cover as directed.
Support the establishment of this innovative model of care in Northern Tasmania and improve patient flow and community care options for hospital patients.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* General registration with the Medical Registration Board of Australia.
* Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
* Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
* Current driver's licence.
Appointment Details
Fixed‐term, full‐time day worker (with on‐call), working up to 76 hours per fortnight. Commencing 3 August 2026 until 1 February 2027. Registrars only: 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro‐rata.
Salary & Benefits
Medical Practitioner Level 5‐11: $134,930 – $189,005 per annum, pro‐rata + 12 % superannuation + access to salary packaging.
* Salary packaging options: living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment per year.
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance: $3,183 per annum, pro‐rata.
* Travel and relocation assistance: up to $15,000 for overseas appointees and up to $10,000 for interstate appointees.
