Marcel Pacific develops autonomous maritime platforms for Defence and commercial customers. As our company continues to grow, we are creating a new position to take ownership of the business administration functions that have historically been shared between the Managing Director and Operations Manager.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious early-career professional who wants broad exposure to how a rapidly growing technology company operates. You will work directly with senior leadership across HR, finance, security, procurement, compliance and business administration.
Initially, you will be responsible for managing these functions yourself, establishing systems and processes that support growth. As the company expands, you will have the opportunity to recruit, train and lead additional staff, creating significant opportunities for rapid career progression.
About the Role
The Business Operations Coordinator will support the day-to-day administration and governance of the business across a wide range of functions, including:
Human Resources
* Recruitment and onboarding support
* Employee records management
* Leave administration and HR documentation
* Supporting performance management and staff development processes
Defence Security & DISP Administration
* Assisting with Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) compliance
* Supporting the company's Defence Security Officer responsibilities
* Managing security documentation, training records and compliance activities
* Coordinating security clearances and personnel security requirements
* Prior experience with defence industry compliance frameworks is preferred
Finance & Payroll
* Processing invoices and accounts administration
* Payroll coordination
* Financial record keeping and reporting support
* Liaising with external accountants and advisors
* Basic bookkeeping experience is required for financial management responsibilities
Document Control
* Managing company documentation and records
* Maintaining policies, procedures and controlled documents
* Supporting quality assurance and compliance requirements
Procurement & Stores Management
* Purchasing equipment, materials and services
* Supplier coordination and purchase order management
* Inventory tracking and stores administration
* Supporting project procurement activities
General Business Administration
* Supporting company governance and compliance activities
* Maintaining business systems and administrative processes
* Assisting senior management with business operations
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We are looking for someone who is motivated, organised and eager to build a long-term career in business operations.
Ideally, you will have:
* A degree in Human Resources, Business, Commerce, Finance, Law, Management or a related discipline
* 1–5 years of professional experience in administration, HR, finance, compliance, operations or a related field
* Minimum of 1-2 years of business operations or administration experience
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High attention to detail and a willingness to learn
* A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently
* Australian citizenship or the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance
