Melton Specialist School is a dual‑mode setting for students with mild to severe intellectual disabilities and autism. The school provides structured learning environments and positive behaviour support.
Role The classroom teacher (Range 1 or Range 2) is responsible for planning, preparing and delivering programs that achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection, mentor colleagues, and may supervise student teachers.
Responsibilities
Direct teaching of student groups and individual students.
Developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum programs.
Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Undertaking organisational duties as directed by the School Principal.
Other non‑teaching supervisory duties.
Selection Criteria
SC1:
Knowledge of curriculum and experience responding to learning needs.
SC2:
Experience planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies and evaluating impact.
SC3:
Monitoring and assessing student learning using data and providing feedback.
SC4:
Interpersonal and communication skills, and building team-oriented relationships.
SC5:
Alignment with Department values, reflective practice and professional learning.
Qualifications Eligibility requires provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, and, depending on the date of completion of the initial teaching programme, meeting LANTITE or postgraduate accreditation requirements.
