Temporary Employment Register – Firearms Act Reform Project Team

The Western Australia Police Force often have short‐term vacancies while employees take leave, are deployed elsewhere, or work on projects with finite funding. Depending on business needs, WA Police Force require full‐time and part‐time staff for periods up to twelve (12) months.

The Firearms Act Reform Program (FARP) aims to reform legislation, implement the new Firearms Act 2024, provide an IT solution for compliance, and manage related change across the Agency. The Act and Firearms Regulations 2024 took effect on 31 March 2025, launching the WA Police Force Firearms Portal. The Program runs several concurrent work streams to support the WA Government's implementation of the Act.

Buyback Team

Within this team you will receive incoming firearms and ensure their appropriate storage. You will undertake the purging of holdings in accordance with relevant legislation and maintain quality work practices.

Positions are located at Belmont and East Perth. Travel throughout Western Australia is a requirement for the Property & Exhibits Officer role.

* Team Leader – Level 3
* Team Leader (Admin and Finance) – Level 3
Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment, you must be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or hold a visa that entitles you to live and work in Australia for the term of the contract.

To express interest in short‐term job opportunities within the Firearms Reform Program, go to the Temporary Employment Register. You will be required to complete an online application, attach your Curriculum Vitae (including referees where available), and attach a completed, signed copy of the Integrity Check Consent Form. After lodging your CV and consent form, we will monitor the register and contact you when an appropriate vacancy arises.

To ensure currency, your CV will remain active on the register for three months. After that you will need to reapply if you are still available (an automated reminder will be sent prior to expiry).
