This is not a design or drafting role. Instead, this position focuses on CAD systems administration, standards, workflows, data structures, and user support. You will play a central role in maintaining consistency and efficiency across our digital drafting environment, supporting both the design and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and administer company-wide CAD standards, templates, and libraries
* Coordinate drafting workflows across multi-site teams
* Maintain CAD environments, including libraries, stock/equipment databases, and workshare/sandbox setups
* Oversee modelling workflows and file structures (naming conventions, X-Refs, version control)
* Support onboarding, training, and day-to-day CAD troubleshooting
* Create, document, and improve procedures and processes
* Assist with ongoing improvements to systems, processes, and digital workflows
* Promote best-practice CAD use across design and production teams
Essential
* Experience with AutoCAD
* Background developing or managing CAD standards, templates, and documentation systems
* Experience writing and preparing procedures, workflows, and process documentation
* Good understanding of drafting / modelling principles in shipbuilding, heavy industry, or similar
* Familiarity with Navisworks
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
* Experience with AutoCAD Plant and SolidWorks
* Experience with ShipConstructor (training provided if needed)
* Exposure to scripting or automation in CAD tools
* Understanding of API (Application Programming Interface) integration or workflow development
* Experience managing X-Refs and large drawing sets
* Familiarity with Australian shipbuilding or heavy fabrication practices
* Knowledge of LR, DNV DEFAUST, and ASME standards
