Your Career Path Could Include
- Forensic Psychology – Assess criminal behaviour, support court decisions, and help reduce reoffending.
- Mental Health Support – Provide care for individuals facing mental health challenges in custodial settings.
- Program Delivery – Deliver programs targeting violence, substance abuse, and related issues.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver tailored psychological assessments and interventions to offenders within custody.
- Provide expert advice to staff and statutory bodies on managing complex mental health and risk profiles, including sexual and violent offenders.
- Collaborate on behaviour and case management plans that promote rehabilitation and reduce recidivism.
- Maintain meticulous, compliant documentation using the Offender Integrated Management System (OIMS).
- Prepare critical reports for parole boards and review tribunals that influence key decisions.
What We’re Looking For
- A passionate, resilient psychologist ready to tackle some of the toughest cases with empathy, ethics, and professionalism.
- Experience and confidence in correctional psychology, including mental health, cognitive impairments, and complex risk assessment.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary correctional principles and criminogenic risk factors.
- Accreditation with the Psychology Board of Australia (provisional or full registration).
Essential Requirements
- Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
