About the role AGL is seeking an experienced privacy specialist to provide expert legal services on complex assignments pertaining to privacy risk. This role will support AGL achieve its strategic objectives in how we better manage risk, as well as evaluating the legal impact of decisions applicable to privacy law and regulations. This is a permanent, full-time role, based in either Melbourne or Sydney. Key Accountabilities Supporting the General Manager to ensure that the EMCAT Legal Team operates efficiently and with strategic impact, while ensuring consistency of advice on privacy issues. Provide commercial, strategic and actionable advice with a risk-based approach on privacy issues and risk across the enterprise. Maintaining independence and strong relationships and influence in order to protect AGL’s legal position and help AGL achieve its objectives. Proactively building relationships with and working closely with Customer Markets and Technology teams to advise on privacy-related issues, requests, contracting and remediations. Applying an internal overlay to external advice received to ensure it is applicable to the business i mperatives that AGL faces. Develop and maintain an understanding of the regulatory landscape that the designated business units operate in, advising on the legal implications of legislative and policy changes and assisting with the implementation of AGL’s responses to regulatory changes. Provide legal support to the Privacy Officer and Privacy Manager (within the Group Risk, Compliance and Insurance team) in relation to their work in: guiding, advising and monitoring compliance within the business with AGL’s Privacy Policy and related frameworks, standards and practices; the management of privacy related risks and incidents and notifiable data breaches, including contributing a legal lens to reporting prepared for submission to the regulator(s) in relevant time periods; and driving change through key compliance transformation and improvement initiatives. Working with the Privacy Officer to manage privacy compliance training to the business. ​ What Y ou’ll Bring Bachelor of Law degree and admitted to practice in Australia. Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience. Relevant top tier and/or in-house experience in privacy law (essential). Ability to prioritise with a risk-based approach and work to tight deadlines.
