Disability Support Worker (Female) – Complex Support Needs
We are seeking a dedicated Female Disability Support Worker to provide compassionate, person-centred care to a young female participant in Macedon. In this role, you will support daily living, promote independence, and help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. This role will suit someone with solid behaviour support skills, patience, and the ability to build trust with both the participant and her family.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a key role in helping the participant achieve her goals and maintain a safe and supportive workplace. You will provide direct care, encourage independence, and follow established support strategies that focus on wellbeing and positive outcomes. This role requires consistency, a calm approach, and the ability to manage challenging situations confidently and respectfully.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualised support for the participant, focusing on her daily routines, personal needs, and goals
- Implement strategies from the participant’s Behaviour Support Plan to assist with the management of complex behaviours of concern
- Engage the participant in activities that promote learning, social interaction, and community participation
- Assist with meal preparation and provide support during meal times to encourage healthy routines
- Support the participant with her health needs, including safe and appropriate responses during seizures
- Build and maintain a positive, respectful, and professional relationship with the participant and her family
- Maintain accurate and detailed progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation
- Work collaboratively with family members and other professionals to ensure care is consistent and aligned with the participant’s needs
Qualifications & Experience
- Female Disability Support Worker with experience supporting individuals with complex needs
- Demonstrated experience working with children or young people who require additional support
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with:
- Behaviour support strategies
- Meal preparation and healthy eating routines
- Supporting individuals with epilepsy, including responding appropriately during seizures
- Ability to follow individual care plans and maintain consistency in support delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to pick up 2 hour shifts
- Current and valid:
- Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Certificate IV in Disability
- First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate, or willingness to obtain
