About the Role

At Respect, our Independence at Home services help older Australians remain safe, comfortable, and connected in the place they value most — their own home. You'll build meaningful, one‐on‐one relationships with participants and their families, tailoring support to individual needs while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
We are looking for a dependable and caring Home Care Assistant to deliver person‐centred, in‐home support to clients in the Portland area, with a willingness to travel to Heywood and local surrounds.
This is a part‐time role offering 20 hours per fortnight. Working days will be Monday, Thursday and Friday with standard hours from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
In this position, you will assist clients in maintaining their independence and continuing to live safely and comfortably in their own homes. Responsibilities include personal care, domestic support, meal preparation, shopping assistance, and transportation.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability, Individual Support, or an equivalent qualification. A current First Aid certificate, valid driver's licence, and access to a registered and insured vehicle are also required.
Responsibilities
* Support clients to achieve and maintain wellbeing and independence, delivering care in line with individual care plans, goals, and service plans.
* Provide direct personal care assistance, including bathing, hygiene, dressing, grooming, mobility support, lifting, meal preparation, and fitting of aids as required.
* Undertake domestic assistance such as cleaning, laundry, food preparation, and shopping, ensuring a safe and comfortable home environment.
* Offer social support and transport services to enable clients to participate in community life, attend appointments, and maintain social connections.
* Monitor client health and wellbeing, including medication where trained and competent, and promptly report any changes in condition, behaviour, or environment to the Home Care Manager.
* Maintain professional, respectful relationships with clients, ensuring appropriate boundaries, accurate documentation, and a positive representation of Respect in the community, while supporting reablement and independence.
About You
You'll thrive with us if you have:
* Hold a Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability, or equivalent, and a current National Police Certificate (or ability to obtain).
* Be physically able to perform role responsibilities safely and effectively.
* Maintain First Aid certification (within 3 years), driver's licence, reliable vehicle, and comprehensive work‐use vehicle insurance.
* Comply with mandatory vaccinations, including COVID‐19 (and ideally flu).
* Demonstrate relevant community care experience, such as home care, personal care, or disability support work.
