Overview
Broome Primary School (PS) actively promotes a culture that strives to maintain positive and respectful relationships with students, parents and the wider community. Broome is located on the shores of Roebuck Bay in the Kimberley region of Australia. It is 2200 km away from Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Broome has an interesting history based around the exploits of the men and women who developed the pearling industry in the 1880s. This history has created a population that is a unique blend of Asian, European and Indigenous cultures. Broome is rich in Aboriginal culture and is the traditional home of the Yawuru and Djugun people.
Responsibilities
As a Mainstream Education Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs, including managing small groups of students under the direction of the teacher that will help in the development of young minds and support the general health and wellbeing of students.
The successful applicant will also assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations and will assist the teacher with the clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities. The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as possess good written and oral communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group‐based programs.
Qualifications
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching professionals.
* Demonstrated sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
* Demonstrated sound organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective educational programs to students.
* Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well‐being of students.
