Responsibilities
* Customer Service: Bring your friendly personality to ensure all customers are greeted warmly, provide guidance to the store's areas and inform them of any specials. Also provide guidance and assistance to those who are donating items and to clients seeking social support.
* Displays and merchandising: With the guidance of the store manager, price items and ensure they are displayed attractively and safely. Pay attention to detail to keep thoroughfares clear, floors and displays clean and fresh.
* Team work: Assist the point of sale team by helping customers carry items to sales counter where required. Assist the donation sorting team by bringing donations to the sorting area.
* Share ideas, suggestions and concerns in regular team meetings and join celebrations and special occasions.
* Safety: Apply care and concern to keep customers, visitors, you and your team safe by always adhering to safe work practices. Keep children safe by abiding by Salvation Army's child safe policies and code of conduct. Keep safety equipment and staff areas tidy and free of hazards.
Qualifications and skills
* Experience in retail, sales and customer service preferred but not mandatory; volunteers are supported with on‐the‐job training.
* Required to fully complete TSA mission volunteer induction, training and registration process.

Time commitment: Agreed with manager.
Development opportunities
This role offers volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in retail practices, valuations of donations, sorting and stocking of shelves, and teamwork. Volunteers receive on‐the‐job training and support from experienced retail professionals and access to professional development training.
