* We are seeking a Radio Operator/Call Taker to join our Communications team, where you will be responsible for coordinating the response to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will also be required to undergo specific psychometric testing as part of the selection process.
As a Radio Operator/Call Taker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by providing effective communication and support services.
This is a full-time role working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will be rostered predominately 12 hour shifts on a 5-week roster averaging 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance using AFP's radio communications network and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
* Coordinate the necessary ACT Policing response to calls for assistance and attendance in accordance with the priority response system.
* Monitor and report on operational activities using AFP ICT systems.
Requirements
* Australian Citizenship.
* Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
* Medical Clearance and a Hearing Test.
* AFP Psychological screening.
* Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
* Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
