Factor UTB is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) Specialist to join our Engineering team in Adelaide. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects across the full project lifecycle.
As the subject matter expert for electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems, you will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, suppliers, contractors and clients to deliver high-quality technical outcomes across design, procurement, commissioning, operations and maintenance activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical & ICA Design and Delivery
Review technical specifications, P&IDs, control philosophies and functional descriptions to develop effective electrical and automation solutions
Develop and optimise electrical design concepts in accordance with Australian standards and regulatory requirements
Prepare RFQs for electrical equipment supply, installation and testing
Review subcontractor proposals and support contractor and supplier selection
Undertake electrical design activities for smaller projects, including control panel assembly and testing
Produce load lists, perform cable sizing calculations, and select instrumentation and automation equipment
Provide technical guidance during site installation and construction activities
Lead pre-commissioning and dry commissioning activities and support plant startup and testing
Technical & Project Support
Work with electrical contractors to develop competitive pricing and delivery solutions
Support project planning and execution of electrical scopes of work
Assist with technical proposals, cost estimates and construction methodologies
Provide ongoing technical support to operational treatment facilities
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure electrical installations comply with relevant Australian regulations, safety legislation and industry standards
Participate in design reviews, audits and inspections
Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures and documentation
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and regulatory authorities
Conduct site visits and provide on-site technical support
Prepare and present technical reports and project updates
Support and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
Deliver training on electrical, instrumentation and automation systems
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Minimum 7 years' experience within the Australian water or wastewater industry
Strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, control and automation principles
Experience with load calculations, I/O lists, cable sizing, control panel design and testing
Demonstrated experience in electrical and control equipment selection, installation and commissioning
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Highly Regarded
Experience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley preferred)
Experience configuring SCADA systems (Ignition preferred)
Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment operations and maintenance
Electrical drafting and documentation experience
