Role
Under the supervision of teaching staff, the Laboratory Technician provides support in the preparation of chemicals and equipment, construction of simple apparatus for science classes, ordering supplies, monitoring and managing stock levels, and performing basic repairs and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. The role also involves constructing teaching aids, labeling and maintaining laboratory chemicals, and ensuring safe disposal of chemical, physical, and biological materials.
The role may also involve assisting with the coordination of the science budget, monitoring expenditure, providing advice as required, and managing business card accounts in accordance with departmental financial guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare chemicals and equipment for science classes.
* Construct simple apparatus to support science teaching.
* Order supplies and manage inventory levels.
* Perform basic repairs and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
* Build and label teaching aids.
* Ensure safe storage and disposal of laboratory materials.
* Assist with science budget monitoring and financial accounts.
