Primary objective
Provide strategic leadership and direction of a portfolio of digital projects to ensure the successful delivery of digital business solutions and ICT
infrastructure whole-of-government projects.
Context statement
Digital Project Services (DPS) delivers very complex, high value, and high-risk digital programs and multi-year digital transformation initiatives for
core frontline services through an inter-agency collaborative approach. Working closely with the client Agencies, the team comprises of public
sector employees and contractors working together to deliver multiple streams of activity as programs are implemented. The work environment
is dynamic, fast-paced and results driven with high expectations of superior service delivery.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide executive project leadership, coordinate, and oversight for the delivery of all in-scope projects and initiatives, including the provision
of expert advice to the senior executive of DCDD on all aspects of project performance.
1. Manage multiple vendors and contracted service providers engaged in the delivery of projects related to both business solutions and
outsourced ICT services.
3. Influence stakeholders in DCDD and client agencies to support and actively contribute to successful project delivery and achieving whole-of-
government outcomes.
4. Identify synergies and opportunities to improve coordination, efficiencies and effectiveness across projects and initiatives delivered by DCDD
Digital Services.
5. Establish and maintain end to end governance frameworks across all projects to ensure project co-dependencies and linkages are identified
and managed and benefit realisation is achieved and measured.
6. Represent DCDD on a variety of steering groups, governance committees and other forums where senior executive representation is required.
7. Cultivate a positive, high-performance culture that champions accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement through exemplary
leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven track record in the strategic leadership of complex projects and programs with an emphasis on digital services.
2. Expert level knowledge of contemporary project management disciplines, preferably in a business solutions and ICT infrastructure context.
3. Demonstrated high level of leadership, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with a range of
stakeholders, and the ability to take a strategic viewpoint to management.
1. Proven ability to manage the commercial interface with contracted providers of ICT services and deliver strong outcomes in a complex
resourcing environment.
5. Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across a disparate environment where competing agendas and priorities exist.
6. Experience in the development and implementation of governance frameworks, performance reporting and accountability arrangements for
project management.
1. Hold or have eligibility to obtain an PF166 Associations Check and NT Working with Children Check (Ochre Card).
Desirable
1. Formal qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as project management, ICT or business.
1. Current working knowledge of, or experience in, project management within a public sector context.
