About the Role – 9 month fixed term contract
To drive the adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices and assist teams transitioning from conventional operating models to automate production and embrace SRE principles. Responsibilities include:
1. Ensure technical solutions align with the EA’s architectural principles, designs, and Non-Functional Requirements.
2. Automate and streamline operational processes.
3. Troubleshoot issues in non-production and production AWS environments.
4. Support engineering teams in provisioning and delivering scalable, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure services.
5. Contribute to departmental continuous improvement strategies.
About the opportunity:
Design and deploy automation solutions leveraging expertise in systems/operations, cloud infrastructure (AWS), build and release engineering, software development, and stress/load testing to ensure services are available, cost-optimized, and fit for purpose early in the development lifecycle. Essential skills include:
* Respectful and open collaboration with team and cross-functional support teams.
* Excellent communication skills with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
* Strong technical skills and experience in:
o AWS services, scripting using Unix Shell, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell.
o Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript.
o Proficiency in Unix Shell and/or PowerShell.
o Proficiency in Terraform, including modules, remote states, and AWS providers.
o Multi-cloud experience, especially with AWS and Azure, is highly desirable.
