Medical Science Liaison – Oncology
We have an opportunity to join our Medical Affairs team as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the Oncology portfolio covering Australia nationally. This 2‐year contract role based in Victoria, Australia requires you to act as a scientific expert and liaise between Bayer and the medical community through discussions of scientific data.
Role and Responsibilities
* Establish mutually beneficial relationships with Thought Leaders in Oncology and Pathology.
* Drive awareness of oncology products and relevant diagnostic modalities through dissemination and discussion of scientific and clinical data.
* Identify, develop and leverage an Australian network of diagnostic companies, academic partners, and in‐house genomic testing partners to accelerate and connect biomarker diagnostics to therapy for patients.
* Answer medical/scientific queries of Medical Societies and HCPs regarding Bayer products in concert with the Medical Information team.
* Contribute to the organization of advisory boards and co‐organise medical educational events directed to both Medical Oncologists and Pathologists.
* Attend congresses and conventions to learn new scientific/clinical data and engage with Thought Leaders.
* Gather competitive intelligence to inform brand strategy.
* Plan and organize scientific training and education events/sessions with TLs within their specific therapeutic area or product.
* Act as a point of contact for investigators, facilitating the interface with investigators and relevant Bayer personnel responsible for approval and communication of study progress and completion.
* Provide assistance to Medical Advisors and Market Access by supporting presentations of new information to hospital formularies and reimbursement.
* Support brand strategy by providing assistance to Marketing colleagues (field insights and education on scientific data).
Who You Are
* Advanced degree in a relevant science‐related field (PhD, MD, PharmD, etc.) is essential.
* Strong understanding of oncology diagnostics and biomarker/genomic testing is required.
* Previous experience engaging with KOLs/TLs is preferred.
* Strong understanding of the molecular mechanisms of cancer pathogenesis, clinical research (trial design, conduct, and data interpretation), and strong statistical skills with the ability to extract insights from data.
* Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with experience presenting scientific data and academic/scientific writing.
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure timely follow‐through and closure with Thought Leaders, fellow MSLs and other internal stakeholders.
* Strong business acumen and strategic mindset with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
