The Office of the Queensland Integrity Commissioner is seeking a Senior Legal Officer and Integrity Advisor (PO5) to join our team.
As the Senior Legal Officer and Integrity Advisor, you will provide legal expertise to support the Queensland Integrity Commissioner's statutory functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clear, concise, and well‐reasoned legal advice on matters, including legislative interpretation, administrative law, and issues arising under the Integrity Act2009.
* Prepare draft written advice on ethics, integrity, and conflict of interest issues, as requested by designated persons under the Integrity Act2009.
* Support the Integrity Commissioner to discharge statutory functions related to the Queensland Lobbying Register, including assessing applications for registration as a lobbyist, drafting compliance notices, show‐cause notices and decision letters, and assisting with regulatory actions for non‐compliance.
* Draft and review plain English fact sheets, website content, briefing notes, submissions, and correspondence to ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
* Contribute to identifying potential amendments to legislation, standards, codes, and policies to align with the purpose of the Integrity Act and the functions of the Integrity Commissioner.
* Assist in the development and delivery of educational resources and training to raise awareness of the Integrity Commissioner's role and promote ethical standards.
* Undertake special projects, such as improving internal processes and office governance, under the guidance of senior officers.
* Provide guidance and support to junior legal officers, fostering a collaborative and high‐performing team setting.
Mandatory Requirements
* A degree in law from a recognised tertiary institution.
* Admission or eligibility for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
All employees are required to disclose any history of serious disciplinary action and any interests that may conflict with the discharge of their duties, in accordance with the Public Sector Act2022.
Appointments are subject to criminal history checks in accordance with section52 of the Public Sector Act2022.
