Public relations account director

Melbourne
Keep Left
Account Director
Posted: 4 June
Offer description

Reputation doesn't sit still. It's shaped by the news cycle, culture, communities, stakeholders and the moments when organisations need to show up with clarity.

At Keep Left, our Reputation, Community & Advocacy team helps clients build trust, influence perception and protect reputation - through smart strategy, sharp counsel, credible communications that earn attention, not just coverage. We're looking for a Account Director, PR who is equal parts thinker and doer: someone who leads with confidence, earns the trust of clients and journalists alike, mentor junior team members, and knows how to turn complex issues into a story that cuts through.

The role spans across the full reputation spectrum – from corporate communications, advocacy, community relations, issues preparedness and crisis management, to earned media campaigns and storytelling - across sectors including technology, education, financial services, sustainability and climate, not-for-profit, property and the public sector. If you understand the Australian media landscape, know what makes a story land, and care about doing work that earns trust as well as attention, we'd like to hear from you.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THIS ROLE.

As a Account Director, you'll sit close to the centre of client work, helping shape strategy, lead delivery and keep the quality high.

You'll lead PR & communications programs, provide trusted day-to-day client counsel, develop strong story angles and media materials, pitch confidently to journalists, and stay close to the news cycle to identify opportunities and risks for clients in real time.

You'll also manage timelines, budgets and deliverables across client programs, contribute to client presentations and new business pitches, guide junior team members, and work with our strategy, creative, content and digital specialists to solve bigger client problems through integrated thinking.

THE QUALITIES WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

You'll bring:

* 4–5 years' experience in PR, communications or corporate affairs, ideally in an agency environment
* Strong client counsel skills and confidence presenting recommendations to clients
* A demonstrated understanding of Australia's traditional and new media landscape
* A strong network of media contacts and proven experience securing quality earned media outcomes
* Excellent writing skills across media materials, opinion pieces, briefing notes, case studies and client content
* A sharp eye for news, culture, stakeholder dynamics and reputational risk
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Experience mentoring, delegating to and reviewing work from junior team members
* A collaborative, commercially minded and solutions-focused approach
* Experience across technology, education, financial services, sustainability and climate, not-for-profit, property or the public sector will be highly regarded

OUR CULTURE.

At Keep Left, we believe great work comes from great teams.

We're an award-winning creative communications agency with a strong PR heritage, a growing creative offer and a clear ambition: to help organisations navigate change, respond to disruption and unlock growth through commercially minded creative communications.

Our team lives by a few simple values: Go Further, Co-Create, Watch Each Other's Backs, Embrace Unlikeminded and Care for the Craft.

WHY KEEP LEFT?

Keep Left is an award-winning creative communications agency. Now, as part of the Hardie Grant Media network, you'll enjoy:

* The creativity and autonomy of an indie agency.
* The scale, reach, and expertise of a national network.
* Strong collaboration with digital, content, media, influencer, and production teams.
* Non-linear career pathways across the Hardie Grant Media network.
* A hybrid, flexible approach to working and extensive employee perks.
