Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Solar Electrician to join our team at Solar Coaster Tasmania. The role involves installing, maintaining, and servicing solar PV systems, batteries, and associated electrical equipment across residential and commercial projects. You will play a key role in delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality installations that reflect our reputation as Tasmania’s trusted solar installer.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, wire, and commission solar PV systems, inverters, and batteries in accordance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, AS 4777, etc.) and CEC guidelines.
- Carry out fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on existing solar systems.
- Perform switchboard upgrades, circuit protection, and RCD installations where required.
- Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations and company safety procedures.
- Conduct site assessments to determine solar system feasibility and design requirements.
- Complete all required documentation, compliance forms, and testing reports accurately.
- Work closely with apprentices, trade assistants, and other team members, providing mentorship and guidance where needed.
- Liaise with customers professionally, explaining system features, safe operation, and maintenance.
Requirements
- A-Grade Electrical Licence (Tasmania).
- CEC (Solar & battery endorsement highly desirable, or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with solar PV and energy storage systems (minimum 2 years preferred or willing to learn).
- Sound knowledge of AS/NZS wiring rules and electrical safety practices.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- White Card (Construction Induction).

Desirable Skills
- Experience with leading brands (e.g., Fronius, Sungrow, Sigenergy, SolarEdge, Tesla, BYD).
- Knowledge of smart meters, export limiting, and monitoring platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams and solar designs.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
