Role Overview
Clark Wood is working with a respected independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Penrith, seeking an ambitious and professional Accounts & Audit Senior to join their close‐knit and growing team. This role involves a mix of accounts preparation and audit work, typically around 80% accounts and 20% audit, depending on experience and client needs. You will work closely with clients across a variety of sectors, including owner‐managed businesses, SMEs, and charitable organisations. This position offers genuine career progression and is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their accountancy career within a collaborative, locally based firm.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare year‐end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
* Complete corporation tax computations and liaise with HMRC as required
* Support and lead audit assignments from planning through to completion
* Manage and develop relationships with a diverse portfolio of clients
* Mentor junior team members and review their work
* Work closely with managers and partners to deliver client‐focused solutions
Candidate Requirements
* ACA / ACCA qualified or part‐qualified (study support available for part‐qualified)
* Experience in a UK accountancy practice is essential
* Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and basic tax principles
* Some audit experience is advantageous, but not essential
* Excellent communication, organisational, and time‐management skills
* Self‐motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
