Prospect
As a Principal Engineer specializing in substations, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering critical substation infrastructure that underpins the transmission network. You’ll contribute to enabling new renewable energy zones and supporting Australia’s transition to clean energy by working on some of the country's largest and most high‑profile tier‑one substation projects.
In this role, you’ll lead complex substation designs, ensuring they meet the highest technical standards while managing project delivery. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor and inspire the next generation of engineers, sharing your expertise to help them grow into future leaders.
About You
- Technical skills grounded in strong fundamentals and demonstrated through robust substation engineering designs.
- Confidence in leading design teams and passion for coaching and mentoring emerging engineers.
- Broad range of skills enabling contribution to the power business holistically.
- Deep understanding of various engineering disciplines, industry regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Project management expertise and experience in integrating complex systems.
- Knowledge and experience in software tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar engineering design platforms.
- Proven capability across a range of areas including:
- Significant experience in developing substation designs for high voltage electricity networks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to deliver as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work effectively with a team of engineers and designers (locally and/or internationally) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Proven ability to manage client expectations while building strong relationships to achieve successful outcomes for all stakeholders.
- A track record of delivering successful project outcomes.
- Any consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential.
