Senior Mental Health Clinician – Infant & Child Mental Health Specialist – Access & Triage Team
Parental Leave – Full‐time fixed term until June 2027 (Part‐time applications welcome).
About the Role
The Access & Triage team delivers timely support to consumers and carers of all ages, recognising that young people have distinct needs.
The Senior Clinician – Infant and Child Intake is a specialist phone triage role, responsible for screening and triaging referrals for children aged 0–14 with significant emotional and behavioural concerns. The role also provides expert advice to GPs, families, and stakeholders across the Grampians region, and supports general triage when required.
In partnership with the Team Manager, the Senior Clinician provides clinical leadership through mentoring, supervision, and contributing to daily team operations.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification in a health‐related discipline (nursing, social work, occupational therapy or psychology). Current AHPRA registration where applicable.
* Desirable: completion of the developmental psychiatry course through Mindful.
Technical/Professional Knowledge & Skills
* Appointment to RPN4 positions requires either a post‐graduate diploma in psychiatric/mental health nursing, a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program, or a specialist post‐basic course of training leading to registration as a division 3 nurse. A substantial period of work experience (usually at least 5 years) to achieve expert knowledge.
* Allied Health Professionals (Occupational Therapy and Social Work) – usually at least 5 years of experience, possessing specific knowledge in the branch of the profession.
* Psychologist Grade 3 – registered as a Psychologist with AHPRA, with a minimum of five years professional experience as a Psychologist Grade 2 (or equivalent) and compliance with the code of ethics and legal requirements of the psychology profession.
* Clinical experience working with young people and their families experiencing ill mental health.
