Project Engineer
A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Project Engineer to work on an iconic ACT construction project with the DOMA group.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and driven Project Engineer to join our team in delivering a high‑end residential development comprising luxury townhouses and five bespoke houses in Canberra. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, managing design and documentation, monitoring progress, and driving compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and delivering all stages of the residential construction project.
- Manage and review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, and shop drawings.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure timely information flow.
- Monitor construction progress against the program and report on key milestones, risks, and delays.
- Assist in procurement processes, including tender reviews, scope of works, contract administration, and supplier management.
- Ensure all site activities comply with WHS regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Conduct quality inspections and maintain QA records to meet luxury residential standards.
- Track and manage project variations, costs, and budgets in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Contribute to defect management, commissioning, and project handover processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Process and review monthly subcontractor claims for project manager approval.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in residential or commercial construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and standards in Australia.
- Proven ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
- Proficiency in construction software and Microsoft Office (e.g., Procore, Aconex, MS Project, Excel or equivalent).
- Understanding in Job‑Pac preferred.
- Sound understanding of WHS requirements and quality management systems.
