The Team
The Communicable Diseases Preventions Unit (CDPU) - Public Health Services, operates under the Public Health Act 1997 (Tasmania). The primary purpose of the unit is prevention and control of communicable diseases within Tasmania, including mitigation of associated risks and threats. The CDPU teams consist of clinical (nursing, medical and allied health) and non‐clinical (high level administrative and technical) staff working in Health Intelligence, Immunisation and Public Health Response and Infection Prevention and Control.
Role Overview
The CNS Communicable Diseases is a member of the Public Health Response and Infection Prevention and Control Team. Response team activities cover all notifiable diseases and include:
* Case and contact management,
* Outbreak management,
* Implementation of response actions and advice to health care professionals, members of the public and other stakeholders,
* Representation on national and local working groups and committees.
What you will need
* Demonstrated experience in notifiable disease prevention, leadership, exercising professional judgement and initiative.
* Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Proven experience of working collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with evidence of advanced interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage conflict.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Eligibility
Essential criteria:
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
Desirable criteria:
* Holding or working towards relevant post graduate qualifications.
