About the role

The Team Leader, Orientation and Graduation Services provides pivotal leadership, coordination, and operational oversight for key student lifecycle initiatives. This business‑critical HEO7 role directly manages a team of Graduation and Orientation staff, overseeing the design, execution, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs and services across graduation, orientation, transition, rolling conferral, and digital engagement.

Operating under broad direction, the Team Leader is responsible for aligning team deliverables with strategic objectives, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures (including HESF 1.3 and 1.5), and driving collaborative outcomes across teams and portfolios. This role is essential for achieving key institutional objectives, including but not limited to an uplift in student satisfaction with orientation and an increase in on‑campus cohort persistence. It also plays a crucial role in stabilising operations, mitigating risks during peak periods (e.g., Graduation), and enabling senior leadership to focus on other high‑value institutional priorities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Proven leadership experience in student engagement or higher education, with a track record of managing teams and delivering large‑scale programs across the student lifecycle.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities, combined with excellent interpersonal skills to build productive partnerships with students, staff and external stakeholders.
- High digital literacy and sound knowledge of university systems and academic governance, with the ability to interpret complex data, ensure compliance and drive process innovation.

About the Group

The Student Engagement and Graduation Department is part of the Student Journey portfolio, which works collaboratively with Library Services, Student Services, and Student Pathways. Our overall goals are to support and service student retention, student engagement, and transformative and personalised student journeys. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join our dedicated team.
