Join Nyrstar as a Shutdown Superintendent and play a pivotal role in planning and executing critical maintenance shutdowns. In this leadership position you manage the shutdown framework, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. You focus on minimizing production disruptions, driving cost control, and fostering collaboration with contractors and internal teams while maintaining Nyrstar's high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Health & Environment
* Champion Nyrstar's zero-harm culture with a relentless focus on safety.
* Identify and mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks during shutdown operations.
* Ensure all activities comply with Nyrstar's policies, statutory regulations, and sustainability principles.
* Lead initiatives that align with Nyrstar's Life‐Saving Rules and Code of Business Conduct.
Shutdown Planning & Execution
* Develop and execute strategic, detailed shutdown plans for critical assets, including furnaces and slag fumers.
* Create and manage annual shutdown budgets while ensuring cost control and accurate reporting.
* Drive continuous improvement by establishing industry best practices for shutdown execution.
* Collaborate with production teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of shutdown activities.
Contractor Management
* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with contractors to ensure performance excellence.
* Oversee contractor onboarding, adherence to safety standards, and performance evaluations.
Budgeting & Cost Control
* Lead the preparation and analysis of annual shutdown budgets, tracking expenditures and finding cost‐saving opportunities.
* Provide timely progress updates and accurate reporting to stakeholders.
People Leadership & Development
* Lead, coach, and mentor your team to achieve high performance.
* Foster an inclusive, respectful workplace culture.
* Ensure team members have the necessary skills and training to operate safely and effectively.

Qualifications and Experience
* Diploma in Maintenance Management, Project Management, or Reliability Engineering (essential).
* Professional certifications in Maintenance Management or Reliability Engineering (essential).
* Proven experience managing shutdowns in an industrial or heavy‐industry environment.
