Job Opportunity: Leadership Role in Heart Health
The Northern Territory is seeking a dedicated leader to spearhead efforts in addressing rheumatic heart disease (RHD), a preventable condition disproportionately affecting First Nations Australians. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of Australians and contribute to a healthier future for all.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading national efforts to address RHD, building partnerships with stakeholders across government, health, and community sectors, driving advocacy, and contributing to policy change on cardiovascular health. You will also provide cultural leadership and support community-led responses to heart health, especially within First Nations communities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead National Efforts: Develop and implement strategies to address RHD, collaborating with national teams to align regional efforts with strategic goals.
* Build Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders across government, health, and community sectors to drive collective action towards improving heart health.
* Drive Advocacy: Develop and execute advocacy strategies to influence policy change on cardiovascular health and RHD, working closely with First Nations communities, the Heart Foundation's NT Advisory Board, health professionals, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
* Cultural Leadership: Provide guidance and support to community-led responses to heart health, ensuring that initiatives are culturally sensitive and effective.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications and experience in public health, medicine, policy, advocacy, or community services.
* Demonstrated cultural competence in working with First Nations peoples.
* Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience in developing and delivering advocacy strategies and policy submissions.
* Knowledge of cardiovascular health, and ideally, ARF and RHD.
