Lead people. Strengthen services. Change lives.

Full-time, permanent | South Melbourne + Bayside locations | SACS Level 6

Join a team making real impact in the community

At Better Health Network, we're transforming community health across Melbourne's south‐east — and we're looking for a passionate and inspiring leader to help shape the future of our Counselling and Outreach services.

This is more than a leadership role. It's an opportunity to lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering trauma‐informed, person‐centred support to people experiencing complex psychosocial challenges, while driving innovation, integration, and meaningful community outcomes.

If you're motivated by empowering people, strengthening teams, and improving access to care for vulnerable communities, this is the opportunity you've been looking for.

Why this role stands out

Our Counselling (Generalist & Outreach) program provides accessible, inclusive, and responsive support to people who may not feel comfortable or well‐served in traditional service settings. Through outreach, counselling, advocacy, and integrated care, the team supports individuals experiencing a wide range of psychosocial stressors.

As Team Leader, You'll Have The Opportunity To
* Lead a passionate and values‐driven team
* Shape and strengthen a growing community program
* Drive service innovation and continuous improvement
* Build strong partnerships across health and community sectors
* Make a genuine difference for people facing barriers to support
About The Role

You'll provide day‐to‐day leadership, operational oversight, and practice support across counselling and outreach services, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities Include
* Leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team
* Strengthening trauma‐informed and culturally safe practice
* Supporting staff development, supervision, and onboarding
* Driving service quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
* Building integrated care pathways and stakeholder partnerships
* Identifying emerging community needs and service opportunities
About You

You're a confident and compassionate leader who thrives in dynamic community settings. You know how to motivate teams, navigate complexity, and create environments where both staff and clients feel supported, respected, and empowered.

You'll Bring
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional registration in health, social work, counselling, psychology, or a related discipline
* Experience leading teams within health or community services
* Strong operational, stakeholder engagement, and people leadership skills
* Knowledge of trauma‐informed, recovery‐oriented, and culturally safe practice
* A collaborative mindset and passion for innovation and continuous improvement
* Experience working in mental health, counselling, outreach, or community‐based services will be highly regarded
Why join BHN?
* Purpose‐driven work with genuine community impact
* Supportive and progressive leadership culture
* Opportunities to lead innovation and service growth
* Career development during an exciting period of organisational transformation
* Flexible and collaborative work environment
* NFP salary packaging + meal entertainment benefits up to $18,900

Better Health Network values diversity and strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, and people with lived experience.
